We have 4 different cancellation terms for listings.


1. Flexible

- Cancellation 1 day or more from arrival date: Full refund (less handling fees)

 

2. Moderate 

- Cancellation 15 days or more from arrival date: Full refund (less handling fees).

- Cancellation 14 days or less  from arrival date: 50% refund of DEPOSIT AMOUNT (less handling fees).

 

3. Strict

- Cancellation 7 days or more from arrival date: 50% refund of DEPOSIT AMOUNT (less handling fees).

- Cancellation 6 days or less from arrival date: No refund

 

4. Super Strict

- Cancellation 30 days or more from arrival date: 50% refund of DEPOSIT AMOUNT (less handling fees).

- Cancellation 29 days or less from arrival date: No refund



Note: These policies go according to a booking's *deposit amount* (IE: The amount that the guest has paid Afristay for their booking), and not the total booking value.


Example:

1. I have booked and paid a R500, 50% deposit for my accommodation of R1000 booking total. The establishment's cancellation policy is Moderate:

- I cancel 16 days before arrival, I am refunded in full: R500. 

- I cancel 4 days before arrival, I am refunded half: R250. 


2.  I have booked and paid 50% deposit towards my accommodation. The establishment's cancellation policy is on super strict. I cancel 40 days prior to arrival= NO refund. 


3.  I have booked and paid 100% towards my accommodation. The establishment's cancellation policy is on super strict. I cancel 40 days prior to arrival= 50% refund. 

  • If a confirmed booking is cancelled by the guest, we may charge an admin handling fee (up to 8% of the total booking amount).
  • If your reservation is cancelled by your host and you choose to be refunded, the full booking amount is refunded.
  • Cleaning fees are always refunded if no guest check in.
  • Security Deposits are handled by hosts, and not by Afristay, and so may carry their own cancellation terms. Please confirm these with your host
  • Typically no refunds are provided on or after the arrival day.
  • Cancellation Terms are set per listing.


Note: All refund amounts on bookings done prior to March 31st 2017 are based according to a booking's total value, and NOT according to deposit amounts.


Note: If there is any alterations to an existing booking, it must be dealt with directly with the host. Afristay will not refund any of our handling fees to either the guest nor the host

The reasons are:


1. We no longer handle alterations at all on our system, and thus our system is not able to support changes to the comm.

2. We can't verify if the booking amount was changed, as we only handle the deposit amount.

3. There is extra administrative fees involved
